The avant-garde playwright Valère Novarina (born in 1947) is one of the most important visionaries in contemporary French theatre. His theatre is the theatre of „la parole“.

Adramélech’s Monologue is an excerpt from „Babble of the Dangerous Classes“ (1978), a play in which 297 characters wage battle over Mouth and Ear’s misguided endeavor to silence the 295 others. The name Adramélech deriving from the Hebrew “melech” or the Arabic “malik” for “king” probably signifies the “actor-king”. The protagonist hears multiple voices, responds in multiple voices, and is convulsively traversed by stunning and outlandish words, phrases, pitches, pauses, rhymes and rhythms. This „montage“ provokes and puts into question the audience’s very experience of theater: “On the altar of the stage, first sacrificed is the character; second, the actor; and third, you, the spectator.”

Leopold von Verschuer, theatre and film actor, translator, director and freelance producer for „impossible theater projects“ was once called a „jack-in-the box of scenic imagination”. In this performance, he is both Adam and Eve; he is God and God’s creation, the prophet and the child. He dances, sings, and celebrates, he is subversive, obscene, lustful, and acidly intelligent.
